pariah

Ok, a bad news is that Pariah, a shooter I really hoped would be great is a beatiful postcard console/pc hybrid. Another even more disturbing thing is that I booked it online, received it, played it and hated it!

No quick save, no save at all, only save in the beginning and end of levels. Beatiful yet very frustrating story that well.. is LINEAR as a professional sinners road to hell!!! Grrr... This makes you feel like a visitor in a really boring postcard country.Dante!

First of, you are a doctor, nice angle, that flies in aship because you have located a broad with a virus in her. She is so special indeed. Well the ship crashes, something went wrong (yeah the voices and script of the game to start with!) and as one of the few survivors you soon realise that you have to set of to find the broad. Suddenly there are enemies after you. I thought this planet was a big prison? Oh well, whatever, I start running shoting and almost falls of my chair screaming: the sights are from Halo, Xbox style. Man I bought the PC Game cause I wanted a PC game not a damned clone! So as in Halo, you spread so many bullets people will die of old age and lead poisoning rather then a well aimed shot in the head DANTE!. Boring! At this point, a few minutes into the game I had already lost my appetite.

After some rather no-eyebrowraising scripted sequencies and boring fire fights later I find the broad, and off to try the vehicles. *sigh* really, I can only say that Halo was better because it was first and no I didn't like Halo either... The story is poor, close to Budweiser consitancy and without clues you have to follow the yellow brick road to next save point and kill more enemies DANTE!. Boring, uninstall, throw into the dark corner of somewhere you never will find it again. DeusX 2 was better then this!

The best things I can say about this game is that it made me enjoy the occasional killing spree in CS Source again...

You should really like this game if you are: A Halo fun and wants more. You don't care for stories you like upgradable weapons and the poorly animated broad is nicer then what you can feast your eyes upon anywhere near home, paper TV whatever. If you are waiting for the good games and just HAVE to have a shooter well... maybe...

You won't like this game if you are: A seasoned PC Gamer that likes: storylines that makes sense, a clue to what you are doing and why, controles over your character, fed up with yellow brick road kind of games and of course, if you like games that actually entices you to continue to see how things turns out cause your are interested.

Good:

- Multiplayer
- Easy to install
- Er, upgradable weapons???

Bad:

- The story Dante!
- The voice acting.
- The game DANTE
- The sight control
- The feeling that starts comming over you that installing Pariah actually degenerated your PC into a Xbox

There are reasons why Dante described hell in different layers cause you would like to see people in hell, but some people you would really really wish had a tougher time then other a-holes. Developing and marketing this game as a Hyppe anywhere near Unreal should probably earn you a place in Heck at least IMHO...
