Call of duty 2Once more up the cliffs dear friends. I really liked Medal of honour when it was released, but after that I didn't give many of the war games that much of a chance. Perhaps that makes it easier for me to feel how I do when I played Call of Duty 2. I never played the prequal and never any of the MOH sequals nor hidden and dangerous. Call of Duty starts of really easy with shooting plates, helmets and throwing potatoes in a snowy russian backyard getting on with the interface. After that war brakes loose, litterally. The entire screen is full of bullets, grenades, cascading earth and snow, dying comrades and enemies and rubbles of a russian city who is way deep into war. I am hooked. I don't care about the invisible walls cause I don't have the luxury of time to reflect over such nuancies. I am pondering the life threatening hundreds of a second if I should spray the oncomming germans with my SMG or if I should shoulder my rifle and try accuracy. I throw a grenade and duck low behind cover and then hunts the sragglers from the effect. The compass is your ally and tells you where to go, and that is fortunate! So many times you stumble upon quests and missions that you solve half of them by just go to there the compass tells you to go and kill everything here. If you need to do something fancy, listen to your fellow soldiers, they will scream out your name and when none answers, you know it is your name, and they scream for you to bloody well hurry up. The game is full of that, quets, names and screams. More then once will you think you have stumbled into a scene of Band of brothers or Saving private Ryan, only more hazardrous more frantci and among all, how many germans are ther really? I don't think that this game is one of those you instantly want to replay and choose other ways, different characters etc cause the only options are the two weapon slots and the difficulty of the game. Never the less, there is a multiplayer option as well (untried by me so far) that will probably give you more frantic battles. Call of Duty 2 delivers a good WW2 fealing and good fast paced action. It isn't hard to get into, but it is hard to leave alone. |
